Recipe: Grilled Cheese with Rhubarb Chutney, Fontina
and Chard

Join our Chef at the Market this Wednesday and Saturday to sample delicious recipes.

Makes 4 sandwiches

Ingredients:

8 (½" thick) slices sourdough bread
1 cup rhubarb chutney (see our online recipe)
16 slices fontina cheese
½ lb. chard (about 4 cups), center ribs discarded olive oil for grilling

Method:

  1. To build the sandwiches: On bottom slice of bread place one slice fontina cheese topped with a piece of chard, a dollop of chutney, one slice fontina cheese, top slice of bread.
  2. To grill: In a saute pan, or grill pan, over medium high heat, lightly coat pan with olive oil (removing excess) and allow to get warm. Toast sandwiches until golden brown on both sides and cheese has fully melted (about 4 minutes per side). Serve immediately.
