Where were Toll House cookies first baked? Answer: In 1930, Mr. And Mrs. Wakefield purchased a Toll House located halfway between Boston and New Bedford, Massachusetts. Built in 1709, the house had long been a haven for weary travelers in search of food, drink and change of horses. In keeping with the Toll House tradition, Mrs. Wakefield baked cookies for guests at her Toll House Inn.
