Our Promise — Career Support
We are committed to inspire learning, connections and transformation for your son or daughter. Our Farm to Table philosophy will help your child understand what real food is, and where it comes from. Our menu based, experiential curriculum produces adaptable students with a strong skill base and well developed palate. Our graduates cultivate a dynamic presence and work with proficiency and confidence in professional kitchens throughout their careers.
Our Career Support team will do everything possible to keep your son or daughter happily working in a satisfying career. We write resumes, send out job leads, network with chefs and restaurateurs, track the careers of our alumni, make phone calls, promote graduates on our website, celebrate their success, and often simply call to check in. You will find that our team, in fact our entire school, is devoted to the success of your child. It's why we come to work everyday.

Support for Success
Culinary School of the Rockies provides an atmosphere where students will grow personally and professionally. Our program is rigorous and demanding — by design. After all, we're cultivating the next generation of culinary cooks, chefs and leaders. We believe that students with a strong network of support will flourish in our program. Our staff is dedicated to providing the pillars of support — everything from finding housing, the nearest Target store, a good dentist, and where to get your hair cut to lifetime career support.

Curriculum and Grades — Diploma vs. Degree
For many students, traditional higher education is not the best fit. We find that our experiential education allows a hands-on learner to thrive. While there is an academic component to our program, 80% of the time is spent in the kitchen cooking or baking. Our approach incorporates a full spectrum of learning styles — hearing, seeing, doing, tasting and discussing. Students are graded weekly, with both written and practical quizzes to provide benchmarks. Three exams evaluate the student's overall competency.
On a day-to-day basis, teamwork counts as much as individual performance and a Technique Checklist is used to track progress. We recommend 15-25 hours per week of homework, study time, and knife skills practice. Tutoring and special testing are available.
Because we are experts in culinary education, we do not teach English Lit, Algebra, or Stats. Instead of a degree, CSR graduates earn a diploma. Our experience tells us that Chefs who are hiring don't really care what type of school a person attended. They care if the person can cook. And we know, our graduates can cook!

Culinary School of the Rockies' Reputation
Our graduates are proud of their Alma matter, and many are working in some of the most highly regarded restaurants in the country. However, we'd be the first to admit that CSR is not the most famous culinary school. Nor are we the biggest. And we don't have multiple campuses.
If you are looking for a small, community minded, authentic, privately owned culinary school, then you've come to the right place. We offer a low student-teacher ratio and can assure you that your son or daughter will receive lots of individual attention here. We work diligently and actively to support students while they are in school and we continue the same level of care and assistance after graduation and throughout their career. Student Housing
Finding housing is typically one of the biggest concerns students and parents have, yet it is one of the easiest challenges to meet. There are 4 apartment complexes within a 10 minute walk from our front doors, and many, many more options in the nearby surrounding community. Bike trails and bus services are plentiful. If you find a place online, let us know, and a member of our staff will gladly visit in person and check it out for you. We can also recommend an apartment locating service to help you secure an ideal place for your child to live. Housing in Boulder, Colorado
