Culinary School Financing
Federal Student Aid (Title IV Funding) Only Available for Culinary Arts 2010 and 2011 Programs to Those Who Qualify
To be considered for Federal Aid a student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Culinary School of the Rockies federal code is 037763.
The following is a basic overview of different types of Federal Aid available. Detailed information on Federal Aid can be found at www.studentaid.edu.gov
Federal Pell Grant: You may be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant to cover a portion of tuition. This grant is awarded to students who display a financial need as determined by the U.S. Department of Education. Unlike loans, Pell Grants do not need to be repaid.
Stafford Loans
Direct Subsidized Loans: A subsidized loan is awarded on the basis of financial need. If you're eligible for a subsidized loan, the government will pay (subsidize) the interest on your loan while you're in school, for the first six months after you leave school, and if you qualify to have your payments deferred. Under the Direct Loan Program, the funds for your loan come directly from the federal government.
Direct Unsubsidized Loans: Unlike a subsidized loan, you are responsible for the interest from the time the unsubsidized loan is disbursed until it's paid in full. You can choose to pay the interest or allow it to accrue (accumulate) and be capitalized (that is, added to the principal amount of your loan). Capitalizing the interest will increase the amount you have to repay.
Parent PLUS Loans: The Federal PLUS Loan (Parent Loan for Dependent Students) is an affordable, low-interest loan designed for parents of dependent students only. With the PLUS Loan, parents can borrow their child's total cost of education minus other financial aid awarded to the student. This total cost can include tuition, books, food, housing, transportation, and more. The PLUS Loan offers the following great benefits:
- Covers 100% of education costs
- No income or asset requirements
- Pre-approval in minutes
- Low fixed interest rate
- Flexible repayment options
How to Apply For Financial Aid
Step 1
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Culinary School of the Rockies federal code is 037763. When you have received a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the federal processing center, you'll know that your application has been processed and the review procedure can begin.
Step 2
After completing the FAFSA, students selected by the Federal Processing Center will have their financial aid file verified. Selected students and/or parents will be required to submit documentation to the Financial Aid Office to verify information supplied on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Such documentation includes, but is not limited to, Federal tax returns, W-2 forms, and the Institute Supplemental Form.
When there is a conflict in data between the FAFSA and the documentation, the student will be notified as to what is required to resolve the conflict. This might include providing additional documentation or statements. This documentation must be supplied within 60 days of the request. If verification is not complete by 60 days or the start of the term, it is possible that a student will not be awarded campus-based aid for that term. A student will know that verification is complete when his/her aid has been credited to his/her account. If an initial award changes due to verification, a new award letter will be sent when verification is complete.
Step 3
After you complete the FAFSA and submit any required documentation, the Culinary School of the Rockies will develop a financial aid package for you.
Step 4
You'll receive an award letter prior to the enrollment season for which you applied.
